April 26th, 2016 by

Hi Clubbers!

Last Meeting of the season. We wont have meetings until the first week in October. Until then this feed will most likely be empty of new content. I’ve always had good intentions of doing something with this feed during the summer and it never happens. Still, who knows, I am heading back to Alaska soon, and I always leave my options open. So please stay subscribe. You don’t want to miss interesting conversation like we had today. Here are some of the topics we covered.

  • Opera has a free VPN available.
  • The Roku Reset Returns.
  • Passwords, Fingerprints, and Facial Recognition.
  • Contact List management under Windows 10.
  • and a whole lot more….

I’ll miss you guys. It’s been a great group. So much enthusiasm, awesome contributions, and amazing turn-outs. You guys are the best. I’ll look forward to October when we’ll pick up where we left off.

Have an excellent summer!

Thanks for listening, and Tech On!

April 12, 2016 :25: Hello Hector!

April 19th, 2016 by

Hey Clubbers,

This is the second to the last of our season. And it’s over a week late to be published. That means that we’ve already had another meeting…That meeting will be published soon. (I am probably working on it right now.)

So this one is a week late, and today’s meeting maybe up by this evening.

Here are some of the topics we covered last week.

  • App recommendation: Mouse with borders – if you have two or more (up to four) computers sitting on the same desk, then this app will allow you to use the same keyboard and mouse for all of them.
  • Connecting Bluetooth speakers
  • Hector’s Odd Roku/MachTV problem

Of course that’s not everything, but I have to get to work on today’s meeting, so you’ll have to listen to the recording.

Thanks for listening, and Tech On!

April 6th, 2016 by

Hey Clubbers,

Look at that! Two weeks in a row I’ve published within 48hrs  (actually within 24hrs, but … “Don’t get cocky KID!). It was a great meeting today. I think we had a lot of fun. I sure did. There was a lot of people, and many good topics. Some of the things we covered are:

  • Routers – VPNs and terminating our own connection, IoT (Internet of Things) Security, and router equipment.
  • Using Kodi – equipment and channels (TV-Addons)
  • App Recommendations: SpaceSniffer (version 1.3.0) to help you find lost disk space, and Never10.to shut-off the Windows 10 upgrade notice. Never10 is brought to you by Steven Gibson and GRC (thank you for all the excellence through out the year.)
  • About hard drive partitions
  • Comparing some of the cloud services
  • Apple v FBI — yeah! that’s right! Some of you wish you’d stayed after…and, well, and some of you are glad you didn’t.

We had a great time.

March 29th, 2016 by

Auughh….Good Morinign? Clubbers?

YES! it’s a week LATE! AGAIN!

But this time I have an excuse….WHAT A WEEK! People everywhere! Kids on vacation! Yes! I was dancing in the streets! YES! Parties every night (not really, I have kids on vacation…and THEY ARE STILL on vacation!) Regardless, of my San Carlos Semana Santa, I am ready now; Today; This morning; To attend today’s meeting, and publish this recording from last week. and so here we go!

Last week we talked a little about:

  • Double Internet Speed? Sorry dude, I don’t think so.
  • Whatsapp. Encrypting your chat data since 2014. Now encrypting voice calls.
  • A little on the recent Apple event.
  • Using Siri to calculate a tip.
  • Does Closing Apps Save Battery or Resources of your Mobile Devices? Challange: A week of not shutting down apps. (I am coming to today’s meeting with results.)

Of course, that list doesn’t cover everything. If you really want to be caught-up, then stop and listen to this Clubcast.

I’ll see you today. Fresh and Ready for another San Carlos Computer Club Meeting.

March 15, 2016 :21: What About the Dancing Girls?

March 22nd, 2016 by

Hello Clubbers!

Another late one. Getting it out on the day of our next meeting. It’s a thing; a theme. Hey! and It’s Semana Santa in our little town. This is when all the ragers come for their vacation at the beach. We’ll be full up. Driving will be impossible, and a lot of you have left to get out of here before it begins. Regardless, we will still have a club meeting today.

But this isn’t about today, it’s about last week, and what we talked about in that meeting. So here are some of the things we covered:

  •  More Netflix crack-downs.
  •  My Amazon.com.mx Return.
  •  What do we do digitally in-case of death.
  •  Using a Browser for Inline Translation of amazon.com.mx.
  •  Backups and FileHistory in Windows 10.

Well, that can’t possibly be all of it, but that gives you some idea. You’re going to have listen to the meeting to get the rest. Enjoy.

Thanks, and Tech On!
