Hola Clubbers!

How awesome is it using Internet in Tequilas now?! Should be perfect for streaming both to YouTube and our audio feed. Today, I don’t think anyone tuned-in to our streams, but I happily recommending it for anyone that wants to participate. If you can’t make it to Tequilas on Tuesday, then try a live feed. Everything is working and…it..is…excellent!

Are meeting was great too! A lot of great people and topics. Some topics, but not all, include:

Lots of fun with neat people.

October 31, 2017 :05: Happy Halloween! and Tequilas’ Internet Rocks!

November 2nd, 2017 by

WOW! Our Internet is rocking at Tequilas!

I am still reviewing what quality was being received. If you have any comments about the quality of the stream of either audio or YouTube, please share it with us. The Internet problem appears to be resolved, but now I’ll go back trouble-shooting the audio quality. Seriously, something’s changed with my setup and it’s making the audio sound weird. Hopefully, I get the sorted out before the next meeting. Unit next Tuesday, here are some topics that came up in the last meeting.

Well, I hope you enjoy this 5th meeting of the San Carlos Computer Club.

Happy Halloween! and TechOn!

October 24, 2017 :04: Tab-agadon in Microsoft Edge

October 31st, 2017 by

Hi Clubbers,

I finally got last week’s meeting out on this feed. YAY! It was huge. Biggest meeting so far for this season. I think it was really good. We spent a lot of time talking about cross browser compatible functions such as “screen shots” and sharing, but (I think) the hot topic was the latest version of Microsoft Edge and it’s new handling of “tabs”. Horribly name, but incredibly functional, the “set these tabs aside” is a very useful and easy function that all of us can find helpful.

Beside ‘tab’ and ‘screen shots’ we also cover topics including:

DogParker – an app driven eDoghouse for leaving your little loved one outside of shops. Currently available in Brooklyn. Webcam monitor, UV sanitizing, climate controlled doghouse locked and unlocked by an app or a RFID card used by subscribers of the server. check it out at: http://www.dogparker.com.

Roku in Latin America – Seems like the little boxes are getting sold everywhere but in Mexico. Blame Televisa and pirates. for more info check out: https://www.rapidtvnews.com/2017101949324/roku-extends-reach-in-latam.html, and https://techcrunch.com/2017/06/30/roku-sales-blocked-in-mexico-following-piracy-ruling/.

Sorry if you missed the meeting, but here’s your chance to listen to the recording. Hope you enjoy it.

October 24, 2017 Club Meeting on YouTube Live Stream from Tequila’s

October 24th, 2017 by

Hey clubbers,

You can also try our the live audio stream if Youtube is misbehaving.

Hi Clubbers,

Those of us who have followed our club’s progress are aware of the kinds of problems that has plagued our friendly meeting. Throughout the last 10 years we have suffered from equipment failures and Internet issues. These problems come hand-and-hand with interesting people and fun topics. Today, hopefully, some of these problems will be resolved. Today (at least) our connections may be stable. Between Tequila’s and my office, then should be ready to go.

Tequila Upgrade:
When I left Tequila’s last week they were in the process of improving their infrastructure (i.e., running cables across the restaurant to offer better wifi coverage.) I’ll arrive early this morning and check what is available. Hopefully, we’re good to go, but if not, then I’ll have sometime in the morning to address any simple issues. With a little luck this maybe the club meeting that streams without a hitch. Regardless, by next week the WiFi should not be a problem. Bring on the other problems!

Audio Stream last week fell Apart:
So during our meeting last week I watched the audio stream go up and down a number of times before it fizzled out around 10am. I had been blaming the problems on current WiFi issues, however, it was odd that it died completely. The audio stream is rebroadcast-ed from my office, and when I returned I was surprised to find that, while, in our meeting,  I had been bragging about my current internet connection, that same Internet connection had completely died. Funny, because of the circumstances I can pin point the exact time period that I lost internet. I immediately got on the phone (dial 050, or 01-800-123-2222) and reported the issue (it had really looked like someone had turned it off.) Only two days later (after having to track down a tech ourselves) the internet was back and better then ever. Hopefully, this is the end of the problem. Everything’s been working great since.

So, if you can’t make it to our meeting physically, please tried to make it virtually! Check-out the audio stream, and/or the Youtube Stream and give me some feed back.

Thanks for all the interest!

#TechOn!

Hi Clubbers,

We had a good meeting, but our internet was falling apart the whole time. connecting/disconnecting. It was very annoying, but our members were great, and we had an awesome conversation. Some of our conversations included:

  • The new French law about photo-shopped pictures.
  • The wifi compromise that effects all of us, everywhere!
  • My Ring Doorbell experiences at the B&B.

…and much, much more. I hope you enjoy it.
