Other indigenous groups have adopted the strategies these two groups use to survive. Indigenous organizations are proliferating in Brazil as Indians acquire greater knowledge of how the society works. They range from local tribal associations to national solidarity organizations. For years Kayap6 leaders from widely separated villages have been meeting whenever necessary to plan strategy, and some Kayap6 communities have set up associations for sustainable development.
